At Lando, we build technology that empowers kids to realize their passions—through providing access to engaging classes on specific topics, like civil engineering or film editing. Each interest-focused class is controlled by kids, with our life-sized digital characters providing individualized feedback. This empowers our teachers to focus on students instead of content. All the experiences we develop are in-person, because we believe the best way for kids to learn is together.

Our team is backed by world-class investors, including one of the top five seed investors and the first investor in DoorDash. In the last six months, we’ve created classes loved by more than 400 families in the Bay Area, and are growing quickly.

The Role

We’re hiring an energetic and agile Business Operations Intern. This individual will work to grow and operate our Bay Area market, and provide key customer insights to guide product development.

Classes are currently in Palo Alto and Redwood City. Option to transition to a part-time role during the school year.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the success of each class. Take on a variety of in-class responsibilities from teaching classes, operating early versions of our software, troubleshooting issues, and checking in students.
  • Coordinate with teachers and families to plan classes. Carefully track class sign-ups and waitlists, reserve class locations, and regularly communicate with families and teachers for the days before each class.
  • Assist in developing and following through on advertising plans. Build on our tests to reach families, with everything from Facebook ads to flyers at local businesses.
  • Provide product guidance through customer research. Extensively interview families we serve here, in the Bay Area, and a diversity of families in potential next markets to guide product development.

Desired Experience and Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
  • A demonstrated interest or experience managing groups of children (e.g. volunteer teacher, camp counselor)
  • A passion to talk with and delight customers, ideally with experience in customer-facing roles (e.g. retail, hospitality, sales, customer service)
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a love for organization
  • Is excited to work in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable with making decisions in ambiguity, and has a strong bias for action

Lando Interactive is an equal opportunity employer. Diversity is a moral imperative and key to developing classes and experiences that best serve the next generation. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We plan and structure our interviews to directly assess skills and experience.
